3C is now ShotCrop: A Long Overdue Rename
Way back in 2015, I released one of my very first projects: a Chrome extension called 3C - Crop, Capture, Create. It was a simple tool for taking screenshots—capturing a cropped area, the visible part of a page, or the entire page from top to bottom.
While the tool has been quietly doing its job for nearly a decade, its name was never its strong suit. "3C" is generic, hard to search for, and doesn't really tell you what it does.
So, after all these years, I'm finally giving it a name that makes sense: ShotCrop.
Why the Change?
It's simple, really. ShotCrop is:
- Descriptive: It tells you exactly what it does. You take shots, you crop them.
- Memorable: It's easier to remember and recommend.
- Searchable: No more getting lost in a sea of unrelated "3C" results.
The extension itself remains the same trusty tool it's always been. It's still open-source, and you can still grab it from the Chrome Web Store.
Still the Same Simple Screenshot Tool
- Capture an entire webpage from top to bottom.
- Crop a specific section of any page.
- Capture just the currently visible area.
- Open the capture in a new tab for simple edits and saving.
It's still free, still open-source, and now it has a name that I hope is a lot easier for people to find and use.
You can get ShotCrop on the Chrome Web Store.
Thanks to everyone who has used this little tool over the years!
